May 4 — Native & Heirloom Fest, 9am to noon, Pulaski Co Extension office. Information and vendors! Free Admission!

 

May 7 — Planting by the Signs, 1pm, Phil Case will be joining us! Pulaski Co Extension office. FREE!

 

May 20 — Lake Cumberland Beekeepers Association meeting, 6:30pm, Pulaski Co Extension office

 

May 21 — Grow Luffas!, 3:30pm, Shopville Branch Library

 

May 22 — Garden with the Three Sisters, 5pm, Pulaski Co Extension office.

 

May 23 — Small Scale Grains, 5:30pm, Pulaski Co Extension office (this is part of the 365 Days of Gardening monthly program)

Let’s continue our vegetable gardening journey into March!

 

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, May 10-12 and May 20-22 are the best days to plant above-ground crops like tomatoes, peppers, or beans. Below-ground crops should be planted on May 2-3 and May 29-30.

Master Gardener Updates

 

The Lake Cumberland Master Gardeners are hosting the 2nd Annual Home Tweet Home Birdhouse Contest on May 4.

 

Judging is open to the public and will be on May 4 from 9am to 12pm at the Pulaski Co Extension office.

 

But wait! Also on that day is the Native and Heirloom Fest! Come enjoy learning about (purchasing optional) native plants and/or heirloom vegetable plants or seed.

 

It’s free! A limited number of goodie bags will be available.

  • UK Forestry Invasive Plants

  • Lake Cumberland Regional Native Seed Swap

  • Clay Hill Art

  • Pulaski Co NRCS

  • Pulaski Co 4H

 

There will be informational/educational materials on various topics including Citizen Science, Wild Ones, and others.

 

Master Gardeners are tidying up vegetable/herb demonstration beds & have planted cut flowers and dye plants. Any of these can be visited at any time at the Pulaski Co Extension Office.
